Two of the top names in Minnesota boxing will soon make their return to the ring. Super featherweight Wilton Hilario (12-2-1) will face Ernie Sanchez (12-3) on June 6 in Las Vegas on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley PPV. The Hilario bout will be streamed live on www.toprank.com.
Hilario, of St. Louis Park, is coming off a pair of decision losses and hopes to get back on the winning path. He will be a overwhelming crowd underdog against Sanchez, a 20-year old Filipino protégé of Pacquiao.
The other high-profile super featherweight Minnesotan, Jason Litzau, will return to the state for the first time since April 2009. Litzau (28-3) is scheduled to face veteran Leon Bobo (18-9) on June 16 at the Hyatt Regency. Local fight fans may remember Bobo as he lost a unanimous decision to Hilario at Grand Casino in November 2009. Despite a solid 18-9 record, the veteran Bobo is currently on a 7-fight losing streak after beginning his career with 16 straight victories.
The two local fighters have seemed to be on a collision-course since a 2009 bout fell threw due to a training injury to Hilario. In April 2009, Hilario knocked out Allen Litzau at a Target Center show that was co-headlined by Jason Litzau.
