Wiuff wins first ever YAMMA tournament

Travis Wiuff won three fights Friday night to capture the YAMMA Pit Fighting heavyweight tournament at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

The event, promoted by former UFC owner Bob Meyrowitz, used a bowl-shaped cage that was flat in the center with a 1-foot, 7-inch incline at the fence.

Wiuff (52-11) defeated Marcelo Pereira in the quarterfinals and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez (28-9) in the semifinals, both by decision.

In the tournament final, Wiuff faced fellow Minnesotan Chris Tuscherer (13-1) of Brainerd. Tuscherer had defeated Tony Sylvester and Alexey Oleinik earlier in the evening to advance to the final. All three judges scored (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) the fight for Wiuff.
