Lesnar taps out in UFC debut

Former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir (11-3) proved to be too big of a test for the debut of former University of Minnesota wrestler Brock Lesnar. Mir survived an early takedown and a knockdown from a strike by Lesnar (1-1) to secure a leg and force him to submit to a kneebar at 1:30 of the first round.

Lesnar showed his dominant ground-and-pound game once the fight went to the mat. He had Mir hurt, but the jiu jitsu skills of Mir proved to be too much for Lesnar, who was fighting in only his second mixed martial arts contest.
